Legacy Cabinets and Millwork began in 2004 when, after providing its clients with high quality woodwork products for over half a decade, Nielsen Builders decided to provide the millwork division its own identity.  For years, Nielsen projects requiring millwork received the material from Nielsen’s 15,000 square foot mill shop in Harrisonburg.  Today, Legacy continues to furnish Nielsen projects with millwork as well as directly to clients and contractors not employing Nielsen for construction services.  This creates a win-win situation for Legacy, Nielsen and its clients.  By using equipment such as the C.R. Onsrud 8 tool changer CNC machine, the Timesaver Series 2300 Veneer and Finishing Sander, and the Brandt Edge Bander, Legacy’s master craftsmen have all the tools necessary to produce AWI certified millwork for all its clients.

In 2013, Nielsen Builders purchased a local moldings company to expand Legacy Cabinets & Millwork’s product line.  Today, Legacy is capable of producing standard and custom trim by creating specialized knife profiles in-house and utilizing state of the art machinery to mass produce moldings.  Legacy moldings are produced using the Weinig Unimat 23E molder, which produces quality moldings at a rate of 40 feet per minute.  In addition, Legacy’s radius molder is capable of creating monolithic arch trim pieces for the most ornate woodwork projects.
